Lithuania is a country in Northern Europe, the southernmost of the three Baltic states. Situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, it shares borders with Latvia to the north (588 km.), Belarus to the southeast (653 km.), Poland (104 km.), and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad to the southwest (249 km.). 

Lithuania is a parliamentary democracy with a population of 2,9 million inhabitants.
