Norwegian-Lithuanian Business Forum 2016

On 20th May, 100 business leaders assembled at the annual Norwegian-Lithuanian Business Forum 2016 in Vilnius organized by Team Norway (The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Innovation Norway and NLCC) in partnership with DNB and Schage Real Estate.

Opening the Forum, H.E. DAG M. HALVORSEN, Ambassador of Norway to Lithuania, spoke of the close ties between the two countries. He said, “A favorable business environment has put Lithuania firmly on Norway’s map of business. […] Norwegian presence in Lithuania is evident thanks to hundreds of our companies that make Norway the 4th largest investor. Yet, we share many values. Together we can create opportunities for business. Above all, create jobs. Norwegian-Lithuanian business ties are growing year by year. In 2015, trade in goods reached a new all-time high of about 1.27 billion euros.”

JEKATERINA ROJAKA, Chief Economist for the Baltics Markets at DNB supported the Ambassador by giving an economic overview and updates on trade between the two countries.  Since 2005, exports from Lithuania to Norway grew by 4 times or at least 2.5 times the pace of total exports. Also, Norway has the highest ratio of Lithuanian origin goods to total exports among European peers – something that Lithuania has to cherish.

TROND BENTESTUEN, Group Executive Vice President Personal Banking, DNB Norway shared his insights about DNB development in Norway, in particular rapidly expanding mobile banking services.

The highlights of the event were two inspirational keynote speakers: business innovator, strategist and marketer, PETER FISK, and Norwegian cross-cultural expert, PELLEGRINO RICCARDI.

PETER FISK in his presentation addressed the challenges of innovation and globalisation along with how businesses have to and do respond to them. This is not just about keen foresight, but about being ready to experiment and being open to change.

PELLEGRINO RICCARDI, born in the UK to an Italian family, married to a Norwegian and being a cross-cultural expert engaged the audience speaking about ways of building strong and long-term partnerships, based on common set of values and principles like trust and transparency.
